If you’ve followed Dwelling & Design for any length of time, you may have observed certain signature pieces in the store or in photographs–basically things we love and simply need to be surrounded by.  We’re talking about creatively whimsical light fixtures and tastefully fun textiles such as throws & pillows, the latter often decorated with dogs and other stylized animal prints.

For so many of these lovely must-haves, we thank our lucky stars and give serious praise to Dana Gibson Designs.  Renowned for her “loose, painterly style” of artistic expression, you’ll soon become familiar (and obsessed?!) and able to distinguish her trademark-style from the rest of the pack.  She has seemingly created her own brand of recognizable pop art, with an up-town savvy that eschews casual confidence while striving for the finer things in life.

Dana ventured into the design world 20 years ago, getting her start with hand-sculpted porcelain wares that soon became highly desirable and embraced by the likes of Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Henri Bendel, and led to expansion into retail markets.

Dana hails from an artist family which runs on both sides, including her influential sculptor grandmother and renowned painter/illustrator great-grandfather, Charles Dana Gibson, who practiced his talents around the turn of last century.

Currently, Dana Gibson Designs manufactures a range of home decor, including hand-painted wares, lighting, fashionable bags, pillows, picture frames and other accessories that transform normal everyday items like tissue boxes and waste baskets from mundane to miraculous!

In addition to accessories, her thoughtful yet whimsical designs appear in a collection of fabrics and wallcoverings available through a unique partnership with Stroheim Fabrics. Stop by our design center to see the bold graphics envisioned and brought to life by her hand, in which old century combines with modern and contemporary.

We admire her adventurous spirit and share a common bond in our collective affinity for bold palettes and interesting patterns.  We joke that only for Dana, do we break the rules of “no animals allowed on the furniture”–her mannerly canines spend more time atop the upholstery than we do, by far!
